Project Overview
AyurPedia is an intelligent assistant designed to help researchers and practitioners navigate the complex landscape of Ayurvedic intellectual property and regulatory compliance. By leveraging advanced retrieval-augmented generation techniques, the system provides accurate, citation-backed answers to legal and regulatory queries.
Problem Statement & Motivation
The Ayurvedic research community faces challenges in navigating complex intellectual property laws and regulatory frameworks. Traditional search methods often yield incomplete or outdated information, making it difficult for researchers to ensure compliance.
Approach
We built an agentic AI system that combines retrieval-augmented generation with hierarchical document processing. The system uses multiple retrieval strategies to provide comprehensive, citation-backed answers.
System Architecture
The system architecture consists of a multi-stage pipeline: document ingestion and chunking, hierarchical vector indexing, agentic query processing, and citation-grounded response generation.
Implementation Details
Implementation includes LangChain for orchestration, vector databases for semantic search, and OpenAI models for reasoning and generation. The system supports multi-hop queries and context expansion.
Evaluation & Results
Evaluation methodology and results to be documented based on user testing and accuracy metrics.
Limitations & Trade-offs
Current limitations include dependency on document quality, potential latency in complex queries, and the need for continuous updates to regulatory databases.
Lessons Learned
Key learnings include the importance of hierarchical retrieval for long documents, the value of citation grounding for trust, and the need for clear system boundaries.
